I went to AX last summer! that was my first time in Cali, and it was awesome!— annnd I’m going to AX this summer again.

Last year, I made the mistake of going home right after, so I didn’t really get to see the sights? so I’m planning on actually making the trip out to CA a bit longer this time hehe.

Besides AX, I’m set to go for Acen, Animazment, Anime Next, Tokyo in Tusla… and I’m crossing my fingers for Otakon and A-kon. a;lskdfjkljf

a;slfjsfakj, it’s finally spring break, and I finally have a chance to sit down and write this up!

So, this most recent con had to be strangest experience I’ve done so far in terms of it happening right while school was still in full swing asldfjk

FRIDAY

I had to miss Friday completely, since I had class running until 6pm and as it was the last day of the week, it was traditional for my classmates and I to celebrate and go out— which was ok because I planned on returning to campus by 10pm or so and work on my homework all through the night until my flight at 6am. BUT ALAS, for me to do any of the maya stuff, I had to have my school login connected to the school’s network drives and they just happened to go kaput at 3am. I lost most the of the work prior to that, and it did not come back on until 5am. I ended being glued to the screen until rushing out and made it for my flight 20 min before it took off. /triumph

SATURDAY

You know, it’s sorta great when you sit down close your eyes, and reopen them to discover you’re somewhere hundreds of miles away from where you before. One moment in FL, then GA, and finally in Reagan airport! My folks picked me up and dropped me off at Katsu, where my bro had already set up for me the day prior. It was kind of funny, because I feel like I sat in the same location as I did for magfest (they both took place at National Harbor’s Gaylord Hotel)

Was a good day! I was sleepy and still adjusting to cold weather (again) but Katsu had a nice atmosphere, and everything went really smoothly.

So, I took my mother out for a fancy sushi dinner because she really pulled through and helped me out on this one. PROPS.

SUNDAY

We got there pretty late.. but at that point, I was all around mellow and my mind was drifting back to my empty seat at the computer labs and how I WAS VERY MUCH FALLING BEHIND MY PEERS. I think I was having a slow silent heart attack, but thank goodness Sunday was smooth too. I began to run out of posters all over the place so YAY less things to carry back. And this time, with the help of friends and fam, I made 3x the amount of charms I usually do, so hopefully they can last me up to ACEN at least. I’ve learned my lesson of making them the nights before leading up to a con OTL. Anyways! I’m glad I took the risk to come to Katsu. I saw a bunch of friends again and met new awesome people! Thank you very much for coming up to trade with my schleepy butt! ahahaa. I took my fam out to a burger join at the harbor and just dilly daddled until it was time for me to head back to Reagan.

I was there kind of early and sketched some peeps at the airport ~~like a creep~~

I made it back to FL at 10pm and pulled an all nighter to do the work I should have done… only to find out on Monday, that everyone had server issues on SAT so we got an extension on the project. OTL. But since then it’s been work work work and I haven’t had to the chance to follow up on al the post katsu love ;;

BACK STORY! I’m a pretty slow person and I’m even slower in the mornings.. so at Katsucon I make a deal with people buying pokemon charms: they can come back anytime during the con to trade them for a different pokemon if they change their minds.

So a guy comes up on Sat.. the morning I flew in after staying up all night.. and he’s asking to trade in his charms right? right. And I’m like sure no problemooo, let me get my boxes. And then he says this golden line, “So how does this work.. should I go get my link cable?”

My inner self was slapping my knee and guffawing but OUTSIDE I WAS JUST.. DAMN… SLOW.. and all I could afford was a weak laugh when I finally got it GAHH. I think we ended up chuckling over it too, after I swapped in his cyndaquil for a lugia and then he was on his way to a panel.

But yea. That was coo. This is why I love conventions so much.

My plan was just to get back from dinner, relax a bit and go straight back to work through the night until 6am and hop on the plane.. after! I get my stuff to render in time so when I get back from Katsu I’ll be ready to go and composite my scene!! BUT NOOO, my z drive is off the network! I can’t run maya, nuke, or even find my source images to edit in photoshop.

WHAT DA HEIL. I NEED THIS ALL DONE BY TUESDAY.
